Debby C. (Greenfield) Loucks, 74
November 23, 2024
Debby ran into the arms of Jesus on November 23, 2024, surrounded by close friends and family.
She was the loving wife of Eugene Loucks, who went to Heaven in Nov. 2022, and loving mother of Lorinda Tomko.
Debby was born to Bill and Elise Greenfield on March 1, 1950, in Alexandria, VA. She attended Falls Church HS and James Madison University where she earned a degree in Psychology. She founded Psi Chi, an honor fraternity in Psychology, and was its first President. She attended George Mason University and earned her master’s in counseling with additional credits toward her Doctorate.
During her sophomore year at college, Debby had a life-changing experience. She accepted a personal relationship with Jesus. After that the Lord was a driving force in her life and everything she did. She began leading Bible studies and was involved in Christian activities.
After graduation, Debby was Assistant in Charge at a Training Center where she had her first contact with autistic students. It was decided to open up public school classrooms for the first time. Debby loved working with autistic students and applied for a teaching job with them. She was hired with one teaching class credit and went back to school to take more. Debby also helped write a new curriculum for the class. The class started in a high school, and ended up in a middle school. This is where God opened the door for Christian ministry.
Debby had middle school students helping out in her class. Some of these students were involved in a Christian club where Debby became a leader. Soon God led her to open up her home for two meetings per weekend with students from six different high schools. During the Jesus revival of the 70s, Debby would drive her students to Take and Give, a huge ministry for teens, and they went on camping trips to Jesus rallies.
In 1984, she married Eugene and together they worked in ministry, leading Bible studies and Christian marriage counseling. Debby and Eugene loved traveling by train and exploring new places. She also enjoyed going to yard sales and visiting thrift and consignment stores.
Debby taught Special Needs students in Virginia, New York and Pennsylvania for over 44 years. After she retired, she worked for Kreider Farms for almost 10 years as a tour guide.
Debby was loving, energetic, loyal and committed to helping people. Her Biblical beliefs were the basis of her life.
In addition to her daughter, Lorinda, and son-in-law, Dan, Debby is survived by her brothers Gregg and Duane and numerous aunts, cousins and other relatives. Debby is rejoicing in Heaven, her home, with Jesus, Eugene, family and friends.
Debby’s celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at Manheim BIC Church, 54 North Penryn Road, Manheim, PA 17545. Viewing begins at 10:30 AM with refreshments and a memorial service at 11:15 AM. Interment will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to ALS United Mid-Atlantic, Alzheimer’s Association, and Focus on the Family.

We learned to know Debby at the Worship Center when she was in charge of the special needs classroom. Our son with autism was one of her students. Debby was energetic and encouraging and and creative. It takes a brave person to work with autistic kids and Debby was never phased by our son’s behavior or outbursts. She handled everything with grace and enthusiasm. She was a blessing to our family and she will be missed. But we are glad that she is reunited with Eugene in heaven.

I worked a number of years with Debby at Kreider Farms as we were both tour guides there. I remember her tours; she always carried a little stuffed cow that she used especially for the children on the tours. She even filled the back window of her car with a whole herd of them so she was always ready for her tours. I also remember her faithfulness as she tirelessly helped Eugene through the difficult times of his illness until his passing.

I met Debby going to Arlington Assembly of God. She invited me to come live with her and two other ladies in a house we shared together. Those were special times together of prayer and talking together. We went to Saturday Night Live together and enjoyed rejoicing in the Lord and solid teaching. She took us all to her timeshare at the Massanutten Mountain Resort. After I got married the first time, we moved to the Shenandoah Valley near McGaheysville, VA which was not far from Massanutten Mountain. For many years, she and Eugene would come to stay at her timeshare and we would get together for a meal somewhere and catch up. All these times together were very special. I will miss these times until we meet again in heaven. God bless you Ryndee and my prayers are with you and your family.

Debby and I were college roommates. I have many wonderful memories of summer beach trips, spending time at our parents’ houses, staying with her grandmother in Red Hook, sharing family photos. She was a dear friend who I could always count on to pray with me over a need and rejoice with me over a blessing. I loved her dearly.

Dearest Debby , what can I say? I lost a treasure. I knew Debby for forty years. Was in her wedding but then shortly after that our friendship became long distance. Almost got to Lancaster but didn’t. We chatted on the phone back when you had to pay for long distance calls. We laughed together, prayed together. She loved me unconditionally. Always pointed me to the LORD. she is now with Eugene. He loved trains and I think of the train poem and so glad they jumped on my train. I will see them one day but miss them so much. Ryndee is an angel as Debby would agree with. Love you Debby.

How does one sum up 23 years of friendship? Debby was a faithful and dear friend of mine up until the very end. She was always there for me. She was ready to listen, pray, and offer encouragement. We made a lot of memories together, touring the Lancaster area as she and her husband Eugene loved sharing the beautiful place they came to love. I could always count on her to pray about anything, anytime. She was such a big part of my life over the past 23 years. There is simply no one to fill the space she has left behind. I love her and miss her, but am so thankful that she is healed and rejoicing with her Savior and beloved Eugene.

Debby was a relentless giver. She raised many of us in the Lord through our Bible Study-The Agape Flock. She loved Jesus more than life and now she is in eternity with Him. While we will wait to be reunited with her, she is in eternity and will reunite with us in the blink of an eye.

Here on earth, we lost a wonderful teacher, advocate and counselor. In heaven, they gained a God-fearing and obedient servant who was selfless and compassionate. She helped bring my family through some really difficult times. She willing shared her knowledge and guidance as I was learning and navigating the autism world with my son. She was such a special person and she will always have an important place in our hearts. May she rest in peace, knowing how much she was appreciated.
