Linda H. Zuccarello, 80
November 12, 2024
Linda H. Zuccarello, a beloved resident of Willow Valley Communities, died peacefully at her daughter’s home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, November 12, 2024.
Born in Champaign-Urbana, IL, she was the daughter of the late Betty W. (Wade) Sawyer and the stepdaughter of the late Philip O. Sawyer. She was the loving wife of Albert J. Zuccarello, and the love they shared lasted for over 60 years.
Linda graduated with the highest honors from the University of Pennsylvania’s distinguished Nursing Program in 1965 and worked as an RN her entire career. While working at Chester County and Delaware County Memorial Hospitals, she devoted herself to the delivery and care of newborns and their mothers, touching the lives of countless families with her compassion and expertise. In the later part of her career, she cared for high-risk pregnancy patients and monitored fetal vitals within a private healthcare agency.
A woman of unwavering faith, Linda was an involved and cherished member of First Presbyterian Church in West Chester, PA, and then at First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster. She was very active in her women’s Bible study group at Willow Valley and enjoyed her time prayerfully with grace and conviction.
Linda was a determined woman whose commitment to physical and mental strength was reflected in everything she did. Together with her husband, they fully embraced a wide range of passions. After seeing Al earn his black belt in Korean Karate, Linda was curious at first, then quickly became hooked. For almost two decades after that, they trained side by side then Linda proudly earned a Black Belt of her own. The next endeavor she and Al enjoyed together was golf. Linda went on to become an accomplished golfer, participating in several tournaments and serving as a chairwoman at the Hershey’s Mill Golf Club in West Chester, PA.
A voracious reader, she was a proud member of several book clubs and enjoyed unpacking the stories with fellow bibliophiles. Linda and her husband, Al, traveled extensively, exploring the world together and creating unforgettable memories.
Those who knew her admired her quiet charisma, kindness, and ability to offer comfort in times of need. Despite facing significant health struggles throughout her life, Linda had an indomitable spirit, never feeling sorry for herself or giving up. She was a fighter, a role model, and an inspiration to all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Linda is survived by her husband Al Zuccarello; her daughter Michelle (James) Simon; her siblings, Howard Henson, Keith Sawyer, and Irene Earl; her granddaughters, Katherine, Lindsey, and Lisa Simon; and her great-grandson, Jerimiah.
She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Zuccarello, and her parents.
Family and friends will be received from 10AM to 11AM on Friday, December 6, 2024 at Charles F. Snyder III Funeral Home, 2421 Willow Street Pike, Willow Street, PA 17584. A Memorial Service will follow beginning at 11AM.

I love thinking about all the fun and laughs and love we’ve shared over the years. I was just thinking about our wedding and how mom / mom-mom / Linda was such a fabulous presence! My life is better having known you! Your influence on our family is deep and lasting. Our lives were brighter with you in them, it’ll be hard these next few months, but the light you shared will clear the clouds away and brighten our lives forever more. I love you and miss you.

I think the last thing she ever said to me was “We’ll always be here for you.” It was when I missed an interview for an internship, and I broke down and cried from what must’ve been a multitude of factors. But, when I came home, with dried eyes and calmer emotions, she said that to me; and so ernestly. It’s one of those things people say in the movies that sound cathartic in hindsight.

Your mom certainly handled life with such grace and dignity- she raised such an amazing daughter and her love continues to reign over the years ahead in the path she laid – my heart aches knowing all of your hearts are aching. My sincerest sympathy my dear friend Michelle- and our dear Simon Family.
