Douglas “Doug” E. Stannard, 74

November 04, 2024

Douglas “Doug” E. Stannard, 74, passed away in Ephrata, PA on November 4, 2024. Originally from Eldred, PA, he was the son of the late Leroy “Bud” H. Stannard and Mary C. (Findley) Stannard. He also proudly served his country as a Linguist of the Vietnamese language in the United States Army. This was a valuable position for translating messages across enemy lines.

Doug was a hard worker, beginning as a paper-boy and Boy Scout in his younger years, later maintaining supervising roles until his retirement in 2014 from Home Depot.

Many in his small town knew Doug for his childhood antics, having accidentally caught Christman Hill on fire. However, outside of his playfulness, Doug was deeply devoted to his family. He had so much pride for every success and accomplishment his daughters achieved. Doug was a wonderful father and husband. He will be remembered for his easygoing attitude and the big smile he offered to everyone.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; daughters Shannon Fuller (Phil), Dr. Courtney Mantiatis (Pete), Piper Vanderlee (Mark), Julie Groff (Matt), and Heather Juiliano (Jim); his brothers Don Stannard and Jeffery Stannard; brother-in-law Dale Goodell; and his fourteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Doug will be laid to rest on December 6, 2024, at Allegany Cemetery, 3467 Fortune Dr, Allegany, NY 14706, at 11am.

I love you so much grandpa. You taught me so much about life, you always had a smile on your face no matter how your day had gone. You always loved me and cared for me, and you were always ready to help others. We had our tree that we would always sit under we would laugh and smile. Being with my grandparents was on of the best parts of my childhood that i will never forget. I’ll always be your stinky lou grandpa! Miss you and love you!
