“John” Dario Piazza, 67
October 21, 2024
We, the family of “John” Dario Piazza, 67, of Lititz PA with heavy hearts share that our beloved husband, father, and grandfather went peacefully to be with the Lord Jesus on Monday October 21, 2024.
Born in Canada and raised in Leominster, MA, John dedicated his life as a civil engineer, balancing multiple jobs while earning his degrees from University of Lowell and Stevens Institute of Technology. His career took him to esteemed roles at Three Mile Island, where he led major projects like the steam generator replacement and overseeing the decommissioning of TMI…retiring with 40 years of service at Exelon. His talents even took him to France, Italy, and Japan, where he undoubtedly tried to “engineer” a way to improve everything he came across.
When John wasn’t hard at work, he could be found tinkering around the house, fixing things that may or may not have needed fixing, or perfecting his yard—which he treated like his own personal golf course. He also had a deep love for music, often strumming his guitar, cruising on his Harley, fishing, or working on his golf swing (though that might have needed a bit more tinkering, too).
John leaves behind his beloved wife, Lori, of 45 years, who miraculously survived decades of dad jokes without filing a noise complaint; his daughters Michelina (Ross), Angelina (Charles, RIP), and Rose (Jeremy), who inherited his humor, ingenuity, and at least one, his over-enthusiasm for home projects; and his adored grandchildren, Gia (14), Maxima, Juniper (7), Vincenzo (6), Jack (5), Magnus (4), Rolando (4), and Penelope (3). Also left behind is his loyal little dog Oliver, who continues to wait for him at the door, likely wondering why he hasn’t come back inside for his nightly snuggle.
John’s legacy of hard work, devotion, and his endless quest to “fix” everything (especially with a sense of humor) will live on in all of us. His smooches and jokes will be sorely missed, but the laughter and love he brought us will echo forever.
A memorial service will be held Sunday October 27, 2024, at Spacht- Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 127 S. Broad Street, Lititz, at 3PM. There will be a time of visitation with the family from 1 PM until the time of service.

My contact with John was mainly through his service to the Borough as a member of the Planning Commission. He combined the kind of professionalism, world-experience and objectivity that small towns often lack in their home-grown municipal officials. And, after leaving the Commission, he continued to provide his valuable insight in an emeritus role. As such, he was a tremendous community asset during a period of rapid transition for our town. At the same time, his affable nature and willingness to listen only served to enhance his ability to contribute. We’ll all miss John, as both an important part of Lititz’ official history and also as a friend.

Lori, Michelina, Angelina, Rose and kiddos,
Words cannot express how deeply sorry I am for your loss. I can only imagine the depth of your sorrow, but I believe your love for Dario, along with the comforting presence of the Holy Spirit, will sustain you and bring you peace through the difficult days ahead. Though you may feel an emptiness now, remember that Dario’s love and the memories you shared will remain in your heart, a cherished part of who you are.
I can still see Dario on the worship team at church, a true worshiper at heart, and now forever in God’s presence joyfully jamming in heaven. His love for his daughters was boundless, and though he was always on the move, he would have done anything for his girls. You girls were great daughters to him. Lori, you were a wonderful helpmate to him, supporting his dreams, loving him fiercly, and always by his side. May you find comfort in knowing how much he loved and was loved. As you lean on the Holy Spirit may you feel His embrace and know that Dario’s spirit lives on, worshipping and rejoicing in eternal peace.

John was a wonderful colleague who I had the good fortune to work with for many decades. He was a good man with a goofy sense of humor, hard worker, and above all else a man who treasured his family. May he rest in peace.

From the early days in Parsippany when we were the young engineers playing soccer on the GPU teams, to the later days when we were the old timers playing volleyball with the new engineers, I always enjoyed hanging around with John. In between we worked together on numerous projects, notably spent fuel pool reracking and fuel handling bridge modifications. John liked to call me a “goober”and I ribbed him plenty as well. And it was all in good humor and mutual respect, because John really new his job and he knew how to work with people to get the best results. In an industry and environment that tended toward negativity, he was invariably positive! You could not help but smile when you were around John. I regret that we cannot have a long relaxing retirement , playing some golf and reminiscing. Or now watching TMI being resurrected. It would be an honor to restart the plant in tribute to his memory and legacy of work. The world is a bit less animated and enjoyable without him, but he lives eternally in his family and he is remembered fondly by his friends. Peace my friend, and comfort and cherished memories for your loving family! “Until we meet again some sunny day!”
