C. Franklin (Frank) Moore, 73

September 21, 2024

On September 21st, Charles Franklin (Frank) Moore, 73, of Lancaster, went home to be with his heavenly father. He was the son of the late John Cary Moore, Sr. & Linda Mae Green Moore. He was preceded in death by his beloved infant son, Grant Kendall Moore.

Frank is survived by his wife of 39 years, Bonnita Wenrich Moore, & his son & best friend Garrett F. Moore & daughter-in-law Jamie S. Moore. He is also survived by his brother John Cary Moore, Jr. & special cousins W. Verney Moore, Jr., Betty Sue Radwan, & Robert W. Green, sister-in-law Cynthia Rittenhouse, niece Danielle, nephew Nicholas, great-nieces Alexis, Michaela & Rebecca, & five great-great-nieces & nephews.

Born in Newport News, VA, he was raised in Grafton, VA. He was a graduate of York High School, Yorktown, VA, & Virginia Polytechnical Institute & State University (Virginia Tech), with a degree in Industrial Engineering & Operations Research. He was hired by Armstrong Cork Company (Armstrong World Industries, Inc.) as a Production Planner at the Marietta Carpet Plant. He transferred to Thomasville Furniture Industries, Thomasville, NC, as a Production Planning Supervisor & then to Production Planning Manager at Thomasville’s Brookneal Plant, Brookneal, VA. He returned to Armstrong’s Lancaster Floor Plant as Chief Production Planner, Rotogravure, Samples, & Inspection, followed with his move to Corporate Production Planning assuming planning responsibilities for the Lancaster & Stillwater, OK, Rotogravure Plants. Frank transferred to Information Technologies where he was a Business Process Analyst. During his tenure in IT he traveled through the U.S. & Europe implementing the SAP planning & warehouse management modules in England, France, Germany, Spain, & Sweden. He retired after 42 years of service.

Frank enjoyed trapshooting with his son Garrett, winning the Lancaster County Championship, & state awards in Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania & Virginia. He loved his Samoyed pups & grand-pup & watching the birds in his yard. But most important was time shared with family and friends.

Frank’s favorite family vacations were trips to Rehoboth Beach, Florida, Western U.S. & to South Africa to visit dear friends Tienie & Ananja Bamberger. While in Southern Africa Frank enjoyed travels to Pilanesberg National Park, Pretoria, Victoria Falls, Chobe National Park, Cape Town, Table Mountain, & the Cape of Good Hope. His final travels were with his wife to England & France.

Frank was a life-long member of Providence United Methodist Church, Yorktown, VA. He attended Boehm’s United Methodist Church where he had served as Finance Chair, usher, lay reader, & helped at Boehm’s Chapel Annual Apple Festival.

Frank and his family want to thank all his health care providers for their support, compassion, and diligence in his care.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Boehm’s United Methodist Church, 13 West Boehm’s Road, Willow Street, PA, on October 26th, with visitation from 10 to 11 AM, followed by his service.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Frank to Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 113 Old Dare Road, Yorktown, VA 23692 or Boehm’s United Methodist Church, address noted above.

Condolences to the Family

October 06, 2024

Bonnie, I was saddened to see of Frank’s passing. He and I started with Armstrong in June of 1973, and although separated for a number of years by out of Lancaster assignments, I always considered him a friend and one of the good guys. Unfortunately, I will be following grandchildren around on the 26th so I won’t be able to make his celebration. I wish you the best.

I’m sorry to hear of Frank’s passing.  Frank was a regular at SLCFSA on Tuesdays and all enjoyed Frank’s presence.  Frank is now helping the Lord!  I hope you can find peace in knowing that Frank is at a place many hope to reach.  Please accept my condolences.

Dear Bonnie and Garrett,
Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time. I (Holly) have such good memories of Frank, sometimes Frank and Garrett, and then Frank and Bonnie visiting us at the Goodie Shoppe. He will be missed. May peace be with you all,

Bonnie, my condolences to you and your family on the passing of Frank. I enjoyed working with Frank when he was Boehm’s finance chief and I was an officer for the Chapel Society. I also remember the times we worked together on those Sunday meals at Camp and we got to talk about our work, him for Armstrong, and me for Lancaster Newspapers.
They were good times.
