Hazel Marie Stevenson, 76
July 20, 2024
Hazel Marie Stevenson, 76, of New Providence passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, July 20, 2024, with her husband by her side. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Chester A. and Verna Mae Rankin Kneisley. Hazel was the beloved wife of Raymond Stevenson, and they shared 53 beautiful years of marriage together.
A proud 1965 graduate from Penn Manor. For most of her life Hazel worked in Millersville University’s Café De Ville. Hazel was a longtime and faithful member of Bethesda United Methodist Church, Holtwood. For many years Hazel enjoyed visiting Rehoboth beach with her family making memories that will last a lifetime for those she leaves behind. In her younger years you could find her on the dance floor but later on she took up the hobbies of crocheting, cooking, baking, jigsaw puzzles and playing games with her grandchildren where she would “always let them win”. Over the last several years Hazel found solace in taking drives with her husband and enjoying the simple scenery around her, just the two of them.
Surviving in addition to her husband, Raymond, are two sons, Dale husband of Darcy Stevenson, James husband of Ashlen Stevenson, six grandchildren, Afton Hernandez, Joshua Filson, Kyle Stevenson, Kory Stevenson, Mackenzie Stevenson, Kiera Stevenson, four great grandchildren as well as two sisters, Faye wife of Ron Shaffer, and Betty Spade, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Hazel’s funeral service at Bethesda United Methodist Church, 1086 Hilldale Road, Holtwood, PA 17532, on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at 11:00 AM. There will be a time of visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. Ray just wanted to say, Hazel is at rest now, and I know you have told me you you had lost your Hazel four years ago. I can remember being outside and hearing her outside laughing, her laugh was contagious. It always made me laugh. And whenever I would walk down through the yard, I was always greeted with a kiss and a hug. You are amazing for the way you have cared for her during her illness and I know that it’s hard for a man, but you hung in there. Take care of you now, it is your turn!

Raymond,
I was sorry to read of Hazel’s passing. She and I had been best friends since grade school. I’ll remember her with wonderful fun memories. She was always the life of the party, and a good friend. I’m sorry we lost touch over the years. I missed you both at our class reunions. Take care and know my thoughts and prays are with you and your family. May your memories sustain you in the coming days.

Dear Raymond, Jay and I are so saddened by the passing of Hazel (she was one of my favorites). I very much hope that we will be able to attend the Memorial, however, I have major Surgery on Mon. 29, and Jay has a Heart Catheterization on Wed. 31. But the Lord willing we will try our best to attend. You were so wonderful in the care giving of Hazel, as I have told you a job well done indeed. I know you all will miss her so much but now she is without pain and confusion. God Bless and keep you in this so very saddest of times. Jay & Betty Ann (Erb) Haverstick
