Don A. Baumgartner 86, of Lancaster, passed away on April 29, 2024, He was born on August 6, 1937, to the late Albert and Lydia Baumgartner in Illinois.

Don spent his youth around Chicago until meeting the love of his life, his late wife Elizabeth in college. Their journey together took them to Pennsylvania, where they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Don pursued higher education, earning a master’s degree, and embarking on a distinguished career as an engineer. For nearly four decades, he dedicated his talents to Armstrong.

Beyond his professional achievements, Don possessed a spirit of adventure. He had a passion for travel and embarked on an impressive 108 cruises, with the Caribbean holding a special place in his heart. He also had a keen eye for beauty that led him to explore photography, a hobby in which he excelled, earning recognition from Kodak.

In his later years, Don found solace in the simple pleasures of life. He could often be seen strolling the streets of Lancaster.

Don’s legacy lives on through his children, Jill Baumgartner and her partner John Duby, and Jim Baumgartner and his wife Ronna, as well as his cherished grandchildren, Nicole, and Isabelle. Although he is preceded in death by his siblings and his beloved wife Elizabeth, his memory will forever be treasured by those who knew and loved him.
