Theodore Joseph Pluta, Jr., 81

June 25, 1942 - April 03, 2024

Theodore Joseph “Ted” Pluta Jr. – beloved husband, devoted father, loving Pop Pop, and skilled tool & die maker – passed away peacefully on April 3, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 81. Born in Mount Carmel, PA on June 25, 1942, he was a man of steadfast commitment and unwavering love for his family.

Throughout his life, Ted exemplified dedication, both in his 43-year tenure as a valued employee at Jade Corporation and as a proud Navy veteran. As a man of few words, he let his actions speak volumes, crafting heartfelt woodworking pieces in his cherished workshop and gifting them to loved ones, each bearing the inscription “made with love & joy in Pop Pop’s workshop.”

Ted’s selfless nature was evident in his 54-year marriage, where he tirelessly provided for his family and was always there when needed. Whether it was fixing things around the house or creating beautiful handcrafted pieces.

He is survived by his loving children: Meg Anderson, wife of Mark, Victoria Roberts, wife of Sean, Ted Pluta III, husband of Polly, Daniel Pluta, husband of Staci, Mike Pluta, husband of Maura, and Maeve Beebe, wife of Evan; 19 grandchildren: Ian, Ted IV, Grace, Malachy, Catherine, Henry, Noel, Liam, Charles, Kaitlin, Samuel, Dan Jr., Michael II, Kathleen, Margaret, Evelyn, Joseph, Fiona and Jake; and a brother, Robert Pluta. He was preceded in passing by his loving wife Eileen Catherine Pluta, his parents Theodore and Victoria Pluta, and his brother, Dan Pluta. Ted’s commitment to his family and his craft leaves a lasting legacy that will be cherished for generations to come.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at Paxtang Cemetery The Wood’s Edge Green Burial, 490 N. Paxtang Ave., Harrisburg, PA 17111. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ted’s name may be made to Four Diamond’s Childhood Cancer at Penn State Children’s Hospital, 1249 Cocoa Ave, Suite 115, P.O. Box 852, Hershey, PA 17022.

Condolences to the Family

Ted’s life was truly an example for us all. He showed us a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was always available and giving. He lived life with joy and left us with wonderful memories. His love and generosity will live on in our lives. I feel blessed to be a part of the loving family he and Eileen created.

I was saddened to learn of Ted’s passing. I first met him when I started at Jade in 1998. Ted was a great guy to work with. We always referred to him as the “Grumpy Old Man” or tease him about his poor hearing. He was always a pleasure to be with. He was able to attend a few of the Jade Retiree breakfasts at the Suburban Diner. I know he was a great family man a wonderful co-worker. He will be missed. My prayers got out to your family during this difficult time.

Sending my sincere sympathy on the passing of your dear father.  We grew up together in Mt. Carmel. We were cousins. I remember Ted as being the wise older one among the many cousins.  He was always kind and had a gentleness about him! I know you will all miss your Dad but you have many wonderful memories that will keep him close in your heart! He is now pain free and at peace with your dear mother. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Cousin Mary Ann (Zukowski) Prorock.
