Patricia Anne Buckwalter Breidenstine, 90

May 25, 1933 - March 31, 2024

Patricia Anne Buckwalter Breidenstine was born May 25, 1933, in Manheim Township, Lancaster County, PA. Died March 31, 2024, in Lititz, Lancaster County, PA. She was 90 years old.

Parents were the late Elam Sahm Buckwalter and Iva Stump Buckwalter.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Dr. Glenn S. Breidenstine. They were married 67 years on October 8, 2022.

Surviving are a daughter Pamela Kinderwater, wife of Craig of Lancaster, and three sons, Jeffrey of Oxford; John, husband of Judith, of Mexico City; William, husband of Susan, of Hershey.

Also surviving are eleven grandchildren: Heather Breidenstine Evans, wife of Chris; Blair and Aaron Breidenstine; Josef Kinderwater, husband of Kathleen, and Katharine Kinderwater Clark, wife of Matthew; Victor M. Armenta-Valdes, SofiaGrace Breidenstine-Valdes and JohnDavid Breidenstine-Valdes; Ella, Laura, and Clara Breidenstine; and a great granddaughter: Miller Kathryn Kinderwater.

Her brothers, John and Robert Buckwalter, and her sisters Lois Stehman, Helen (Peg) Woerner and Mary Markley predeceased her.

Pat’s greatest love was for her husband, her children, and grandchildren. She was quoted as saying they were, “The best thing that ever happened to me and my most precious legacy!” She often told her husband and children – “Think of me after I am gone, but please do not mourn, for I have had a wonderful life and you all have made it so.”

She appreciated nature and enjoyed growing and arranging flowers. In keeping with that, she was a twenty-year member of the Four Seasons Garden Club. Another passion was the beach and especially the southern New Jersey shore. Pat and her husband also traveled extensively throughout the world. Other interests over the years included needle work, golf, and bowling. She also enjoyed following her children and grandchildren and their interests, activities, and sports.

Pat was a 1951 graduate of Manheim Township High school and a 1955 graduate of Temple University with a BS degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education. At Temple she was a member of the Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority. After graduation from Temple, she taught kindergarten in the Manheim Central school district. Through the years Pat helped her husband in his Orthodontic practice on an as needed basis. More recently she was employed by Small Wonders Academy.

She was an active member of the Lancaster Church of the Brethren where she taught Sunday School for many years, was on the Church Board several times, on the Executive Committee, Chairman of the Community Action Commission, served on the Traditional Worship Committee and on numerous Pastoral search committees.

Pat was a member and past president of the Lancaster County Dental Auxiliary. She was also a former member of the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra Board and the Women’s Symphony Association. She served on the Community Relations Committee at the Samaritan Center. She was a former member and Vice President of the Board of the Boys Club and Girls Club of Lancaster. She volunteered at the former St. Joseph Hospital and the Lancaster General Hospital. A former member of the Lancaster Country Club, she served as chairman of both the 9 Hole and 18 Hole Ladies Golf Associations and other golf committees of the Club. In 2000, she was Co-Chair of the Lancaster Country Club’s 100th Anniversary Celebration Committee. Also, she was a former member of the Hamilton Club and bowled with the Ladies Duck Pin League and in the LCC Ladies League.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Memorial Service at the Brethren Village Chapel, 3001 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543, at 10:30 am on Monday, May 13, 2024, with Chaplain Dana Statler officiating. Pat’s family will receive guests from 9:30 to 10:30 am.

Interment will be private in the Lancaster Church of the Brethren Memorial Garden.

Dear Jeff, Pam, John, Bill and families, Please accept my deepest sympathy for your loss. Aunt Pat was gentle, gracious and a glowing light in any room. I have fondest memories of her lilting laughter and broad smile. Although I haven’t seen Aunt Pat in many years, she has a pressence that does not fade.  susan knutson
