Claire Etter Martin, 66, of Washington Boro, passed away after a brief illness on February 25, 2024. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Ronald and Carol (Waller) Etter. She was married over 45 years to her beloved husband, Jeffrey L. Martin.

I am so sad and sorry to hear this news. Claire was a mainstay at the APSCUF-MU office, and was an institution. I always felt that we were in good hands with her running the office. She was also truly kind and helpful.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time. She was a very devoted caregiver to many family members and a dear friend to faculty and staff members at Millersville university.

Claire’s memory is still clear to me from the years we worked together to start up the Washington Boro Cub Scout pack. What a great person to know and share good times with! And what a positive influence on those boys, now grown and with children of their own. She was a blessing in many lives. Dave Stadden

I am so sorry that Claire had to leave us so soon: she was such a positive person and one always felt better for having spent time with her. My time at Millersville as an APSCUF and APSCURF member is invariably linked with memories of Claire: she always knew what to do and did it gladly. May she rest in peace on “the heavenly beach.” Her memory is certainly a blessing. I accompany you in your sadness and loss.

I am so sorry to learn that Claire is no longer with us. I appreciated her work with our faculty union! I knew I could count on her institutional memory and integrity. I learned a lot about her from the beautifully written obituary. I hope the family knows how much we respected Claire at Millersville.
