Marie Elizabeth Oatman DeVerter, 93, of Lancaster, passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2023. Marie was born to parents Leroy Benjamin and Evelyn Ellen (Spotts) Oatman in Lancaster, PA. She married her beloved husband Richard W. DeVerter in 1949, who passed just 5 days prior to her.

You do not know me. I live in Lexington, NC. While at a local shop “treasure hunting” I was blessed to find the most beautiful artwork. A small hand painted picture of twin birds. So lovely. While I have had for several years I just today noticed handwritten on back the artist couples names; Dick N Marie DeVerter Bird In Hand, PA. I will think of them fondly in their passing and imagine the stories their lives together on Earth created. Left to be cherished until we all meet again….or for the very first time…Max Ehrmann’s ‘Desiderata’ guides the soul.
