Samuel Luther “Luke” Baker, 79
April 16, 2023
Samuel Luther “Luke” Baker was ushered into heaven on April 16, after a courageous two-year battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was born in Sunbury, grew up in Northumberland, and served his beloved country for four years in the United States Air Force. Luke was the oldest son of the late John and Helen Baker. His professional life was spent predominantly at Mack Trucks, where he retired in 2009. His journey on this earth concluded exactly one month short of his 80th birthday.
Luke is survived by his brother, John Baker (Sue) and sister, Joan Gillette. In addition to his siblings, he had four children, Emily Blanton, Eric Baker (Kelly), Kristina Beers (Pete), and Laura Dimauro (Sheamus). Luke also had 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren with one on the way.
Luke was known for his friendliness and warm smile. He loved people and was willing to help whenever and wherever needed. Luke was a passionate weightlifter, loved trips to Disney, cruise nights, car shows, and was an ardent collector of classic hot rods. He is remembered fondly for faithfully serving many years as a head usher at Bethel Baptist Church in Sellersville.
The family takes great comfort in knowing that Luke has joined friends and family members that have preceded him to heaven because of his faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Nothing could have made me sadder when I heard of Luke’s passing. He was such a GREAT leader, mentor, friend, and just all around person! I thought of him very often over the years since we all left Mack. I’m glad that he kept his faith and family close to him. He will be dearly, dearly missed by his entire Mack family. He touched all our lives and will live on through everyone he helped and loved throughout the years. Sending love, comfort, and many joyous memories to his extended family.
