Duayne “Scott”Miller, 62
January 29, 2023
It is with great sadness that the family of Duayne “Scott” Miller, 62, of Lancaster, PA announces that Scott passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2023. Born in Lancaster, PA he was the son of Christiana Dosch (Painter) and Lester Miller. He was a devoted son and spent time with his Mom driving her places she needed to go. He visited his Dad a lot too. He grew up with a sister Glenda Zielke and two brothers Daryl Miller and Kevin Miller. He was the loving companion and friend to Elaine Greblowski. He had four children Justin Rodriguez, Mitchell Miller, Eric Miller, and Britney Miller. Many of his friends he had for many years such as Ivan Reiff, Dwayne, Troy, Bob. and Gary. He was close to all the Gerz family and worked for them on and off.
Scott was one of a kind. He never met a stranger because he would talk to anyone. He didn’t take life seriously. He was real down to earth and loyal. He was wilder in his younger days but mellowed out more in his 50s and 60s. He would help anyone. I saw him push a car out of a snow bank or give a stranger a jump for their battery at a gas station. He had a good heart.
Scott said his favorite job was at Lancaster Malliable. He poured molds for 11 years. He also was a gifted carpenter and would renovate buildings. He would be painting or doing drywall with 105.7 the X blasting and be in his element. He often said his work was his art. He did enjoy drawing hands and faces in pencil or pen as a hobby. He was happy lately he returned to a previous job at Red Rose pool that he really enjoyed. He was turning things around and happier then he had been. He was even saving money and I’d joke and say “who are you??” and we’d laugh.
He loved music and lately listened to a lot of Seether. He enjoyed puzzles, music, drawing, comedies. He favorite shows were Big Bang Theory, Bobs Burgers, Myth Busters, documentaries about the universe. He loved nature and trees especially. He was fascinated by them.
He was very funny and often cracking jokes. He enjoyed George Carlin and would say this isnt dejavu its vujaday. The feeling like something like this had NEVER happened before and we.d laugh. I always thought he’d live to be 100 because he was so full of life. Scott had a wild 62 year ride on this earth. I know he had regrets and some relationships he wished were mended and addictions he battled but I hope whatever struggles he had on earth are now gone and he finds eternal peace with his beloved Grandmother and others who passed away before him. How can you sum up someones life in so few words. Every person is complex and so unique and that was very true of Scott. I never met someone so themselves as Scott. He lived his life on his terms. He will be greatly missed but not forgotten. “To live in the hearts we leave behind is not to die”.
Scott is survived by his children: Justin Rodriguez of Lititz, Mitchell and Eric Miller of Landisville and Britney Miller of Lancaster; his grandchildren: Porcelain, Draven, Katana and Landon; his siblings: Glenda Zielke (Don), Darryl Miller and Kevin Miller (Holly); his nieces and nephews: Madison, Gaige, Torren Jorydyn, Jake and Jaxon.
