Henry M. Brodersen, 82

Henry M. Brodersen (Hank), 82, of Lancaster passed away December 7, 2022. He was born to the late Willy and Keike Brodersen in Germany. He served in the United States Army and was proud to serve his country. He had many accomplishments in his 9-year military career and achieved several medals and awards including the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, The Good Conduct Medal, the Parachutist Badge and Sharpshooter (rifle M-14 and M-16). Outside of his military career Henry was a delicatessen shop owner for many years until his retirement.
Henry spent his leisure time playing cards especially the game Pinochle, he was very social and made friends easily. He also enjoyed travel and country music and was an avid NY Yankee fan. Henry loved soccer and could talk for hours with his son Michael about the game. He was devoted to his family and loved them very much. He will be missed dearly by those who loved and knew him.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife Catherine Brodersen of Lancaster, with whom he spent 33 years of marriage with; his son Michael Brodersen husband of Tricia of Queens NY, and his grandchildren Sean Brodersen and Cassidy Brodersen both of Queens New York as well as two brother in laws Art & Jim Joinnides and multiple nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Henry is preceded in his passing by his siblings Freddie, Karin and Walter.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the convenience of the family in New York. In lieu of flowers a donation in Henry’s memory may be made to the Disabled Veterans National Foundation at www.dvnf.org/donation/

Hank was one of the smartest and nicest people I ever met. I always enjoyed remoniscing our Vietnam/Army experiences when he would stop in my office. He ran one of the most successful delicatessens on Long Island. I will miss our yealy phone calls and his ability to always make me laugh.
