Dear Eric, Todd, Zak & the entire Montgomery & 222 Dutch Lanes Family: Doug, Drew, Bethany & I send you our sincere condolences and prayers for peace. We hope you will soon find joy in remembrance (although we know too well that remembrance will be emotionally raw and will be bittersweet for quite some time).
I learned much from Darlene. I remember an occasion where I sought her advice. Her no-nonsense, straightforward, yet caring, approach was a helpful perspective. When I was concerned with the blowback of chosing truth, knowing my choice would probably cost my job & have significant financial ramifications on my family, Darlene said the following to me: “Well, those people don’t sound like good people so you’re better off without them. You know, (she gave me a small smile, chuckled & shook her finger as she spoke) you can always find a new job but you can’t just replace your integrity”. Wise words, ones I will always appreciate & never forget. She was truly one of a kind. – Betsy Jaquith
