Mary Ann Balmer, 74
April 13, 2017
Mary Ann Balmer, 74, of Lititz, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at her residence, surrounded by her family.
She was the wife of Bruce K. Balmer, with whom she shared 53 years of marriage this past November 30th. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Jack A. and Mary Jane Shaub Beazley.
A graduate of McCaskey High School and the York School of Nursing, Mary Ann had worked as a LPN at Lancaster General Hospital many years ago. She later worked in the cafeteria at Kissel Hill Elementary School, Owl Hill Learning Center, and at Stauffers of Kissel Hill in the produce department for 18 years.
Mary Ann was a long-time member of Salem Lutheran Church of Kissel Hill.
She had volunteered for many years with meals at Brunnerville Fire Co., loved to decorate for the season and holidays, was a great cook, canner and seamstress, volunteered with the Girl Scouts, and was part of a pinochle club that turned into a dinner club of friends as the years passed. Being very creative, Mary Ann created wreaths and pine cone crafts, showing her works at the Lititz Craft Show. Her family was her greatest joy : she was a great mom, loved her grandchildren, traveling to the mountains in Potter County, the beach, the New England states, and on bus trips with her husband.
In addition to her husband, Bruce, she is survived by her daughters, both of Lititz: Lisa A. married to Keith Doutrich and Christine L. married to Eric Weaver; her 2 granddaughters Samantha and Lauren Weaver; and by her uncle and aunt, Henry and Peggy Beazley and their family.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Hospice and Community Care, the staff of Lincoln Family Practice, Dr. James Kelly, Dr. Doreen Bett and NP Katie Couch for the great care and compassion shown to Mary Ann and her family.
Friends will be received on Monday, April 17, 2017 at Salem Lutheran Church of Kissel Hill, 26 Owl Hill Rd., Lititz, PA from 6-8PM, and again at the church on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 from 10-11AM, with the Funeral Service to follow at 11AM. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Mary Ann’s memory to Hospice and Community Care, 685 Good Drive, Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125 or to the American Diabetes Assn, Box 11454, Alexandria, VA, 22312.
