Marietta J. Niehaus, 64
February 10, 2017
Marietta J. Niehaus of West Lampeter Township passed away at home, surrounded by her loving family, on February 10th, 2017 at the age of 64. She was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Angelo and Palma Cefalu. She attended Adelphi Business School and dedicated her life to her children, grandchildren, and husband.
Marietta worked in food service at Hans Herr Elementary school and, most recently, at Lancaster Bible College. She and her husband, Carl, celebrated 43 years of marriage in September. They attended LCBC.
Marietta loved the Lord and loved people. Her family was her priority and she loved serving them the most. She also enjoyed singing in choirs, painting pottery, and cooking all of the traditional Italian dishes.
In addition to her loving husband, Carl, Marietta is survived by four daughters: Kristine, wife of Shamus Smith, and Karen Niehaus, both of Willow Street, as well as Rebecca Niehaus and Elisabeth Niehaus. She also left behind two grandsons, Aiden and Evan Smith.
A viewing will take place on Thursday, February 16, from 6-7 pm, followed by a celebration of Marietta’s life at 7 pm at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA, 17543. A private interment at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery will be on Friday.

I remember the first time I met you at small group at Donna’s. We bonded immediately. We had many good times in group, but like everything seems to happen, we lost touch with friends over the years. I was saddened to hear of your illness. I pray for strength for your family at this difficult time. I know you are in glory with Jesus, basking in glory. Until we meet again. Angela and Bill lewis

Miss Etta took some time to talk to me every Saturday at the Charger when she made lunch. I ran XC with Becca for 2 years at LBC. My parents never made it to a meet but Miss Etta always routed for me by name and that meant so much to me. Thank you for spending time with me and caring about me.

Marietta and I met and worked together at Dutch Wonderland. She “took me under her wing” at Sharky’s Grill and we have been friends ever since. I loved her cute little laugh and smile. She was an encourager and good listener. She truly evidenced her love for Jesus, her husband and her family. Even after our DW assignment ended, we kept in touch and I enjoyed hearing the updates on her life and on all of you. We shared many grandkid stories over the past few years. Her life was a blessing to me. I have many fond memories to hold in my heart. I will miss her. As belivers, I know the hope she had and now of her eternal home in Heaven.
May God’s peace and comfort be with you at this time. Kim Spangenburg

I am sad over this terrible loss of a beautiful shining lady our Cousin Marietta N . I posted pictures of my wedding where she got me up to dance. She is missed because of her love and her laughter. I remember old days growing up as baker’s daughters, and inseparable cousins. She was also a good friend with a love for us all true and sweet. She managed to work, love and simply be one superwoman who was there for husband, children, grandkids, family and friends – us included. R.I.P. Cousin Marietta N. You are missed and still loved. Love, Cousin Josephine O’N.

If Marietta was anything like Liz, she was an absolutely wonderful woman. She left behind daughters that loved and admired her and grandkids that I’m told adored her. As they grow and continue their lives, I have no doubt Mrs. Niehaus will be looking down on them every step of the way. Rest easy Mrs. Niehaus.
