I have such wonderful memories of this truly “giant of a man with a wonderful heart”. My father who never really needed a haircut always went on a regular basis. I remember alot of Armstrong Cork employees went there. He would insist that my son who was about 3 at the time, also needed one. Again, not much hair! Frank would sit him up high, go through all the production…. even giving him a “lathering” of shaving cream. When it was all done, he would give him a quarter. My son would love it and it made my father smile. This memory is so special to me. My father passed away in 1983 and I’ve recently lost my son at age 37. My heart goes out to you. I hope this made you smile – I know it makes me happy to think of such a special act of human kindness.

What a wonderfule man. I enjoyed my time in his barber chair for only the past 5 years or so but he was always asking about me and my family. We always talked about our shore vacations.  I will miss him.

Frank was one of the first adults that I remember as a child.  He and his wife, Frances, would often come to visit my parents.  At Christmas, they would always bring over a box of chocolates, which I would look forward to.  I remember one Christmas Eve that we spent together at my parents’ house.  I also remember being at Frank’s old house several times.  He would show me his barber shop, and we would play cards.  One time, while I was taking a child development class in 8th grade, Frances allowed me to complete one of my assignments by observing one of the children in her daycare.  Frank and Frances were always kind to me, and I can still hear the sound of Frank’s voice saying “Hi Eric” whenever he saw me.  I am glad that I was able to attend his beautiful funeral service.  Frances and family, please know that Frank is patiently awaiting the day when he will be with you once again.  And Frank, thank you for the kindess that you gave me unconditionally over the years, ever since I was in diapers.  R.I.P. my friend.

Dear Frances and family,
I was so sorry to hear Frank passed away. My husband Bruce worked today for Snyder’s at Frank’s funeral .  He didn’t realize it was your family.   You and Frank meant so much to my parents, Angela and Frank Torregrossa and I always felt a special closeness to you both.  I am sorry I couldn’t be there today, but know that he is in our prayers as well as you and your family.

Our sympathies on the passing of Frank.  I met Frank in high school as a member of the class of 1949.  Later our family followed him to his home and shop on Plum.  Whenever we would bump into each other he always had that wonderful smile that would make our day.  God speed Frankie from Johnny.

My sincere condolences to Frank’s family on their loss.  Frank was my barber for many years until my balding head made it impractical to patronize him.  Nonetheless, I continued to visit simply to enjoy his wit, humor, and knowledge of current events, and to seek his advice.  While living close to his shop on Plum Street it was an easy walk, then I followed him to Catholic High after the unfortunate fire and finally to his shop on Prince Street. It was always pleasureful catching up on his stories about family members and his son Frank who was a Penn State fraternity brother.  He used to joke with me about my head of hair from college days.  Truly I will miss stopping in to just talk with a really great guy! Rest in Peace, Frank.

My most heartfelt condolences to Mrs. Mongiovi and family.
Frank cut hair for my son and myself for several years, becoming a truly special friend, mentor, Father figure.  Always happy to see us, with a smile that lit up the room, always encouraging my son Joe in his endeavors, and teaching me so much in his gentle wisdom.  “Take one day at a time”, “Keep moving”, “Count your blessings” were a familiar refrain that became profound example. Saturday morning, once a month, was a looked forward to time, with opera, or Sinatra, playing in the background, helping with the newpspaper crossword puzzle, the barber pole turning in a red and blue spiral on it’s indoor, mobile platform, while one of the finest men I have ever known showed me what a truly successful life looked like.  Frank’s family must know this much better than I, but I still want to let them know how grateful I am to have known Frank, how sad I feel that he is no longer with us, and the joy that is now his in eternal life.  Erik Ek

Frank my friend I read today of your passing away and I just want you and your family to know that you were a great man and truly missed by this Old Marine. I have had the pleasure of knowing you since I worked at Buherle School on Plum Street. You always had good advice and treated me like you were my Father and I really enjoyed that. The day I moved to Florida stopping and saying goodbye was very hard since we had been friends so long and I knew I would probably never see you again that day. Today is 10 times as hard since I read about you passing away. Frank I know you are in Heaven and I will someday see you there once again. I know you really loved your wife and family alot you always talked about how proud you were of them all. I know they were proud of you to. May God protect them all. May he wrap his loving arms around you and them. I am glad I called you a couple of months ago, I knew you were working but I knew you probably were worrying about me like you always did. I am okay know that Frank. I am proud to say you were my friend and thank you for being there for us all. May God Bless you my Friend. Semper fi. Jon Bruce
