Donald R. “Ducky” Moyer, 81

Donald “Ducky” R. Moyer, 81, of Lititz and formerly of Manheim, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2011. Ducky’s Heavenly family, including his parents, son Mark and Sylvia Serra Trimmer, await him with open arms. He and his wife Mildred “Millie” J. Serra Moyer celebrated 58 years of marriage last April 11th. Born April 1, 1930, in Pond Creek, PA, he was the son of the late Ralph L. and Mildred C. Hawk Moyer.

Ducky graduated from Mount Carmel High School and then served as a sergeant in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War. He worked for the former Holsum Bakery and then as a dock foreman for the former A-P-A Transport both in Lancaster, and for Highland Tank & Manufacturing Company, Inc. in Manheim.

He was a life member of Dela-Ches Amvets Post 290 and Dela-Ches Fishing Association, and a member of Elstonville Sportsman’s Association. Ducky was a Manheim Central Barons and Penn State football fan. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating in Florida during the winter and yard sales. He loved spending time with his family and was particularly fond of his grandchildren.

Ducky’s family includes his wife Millie and their three children, Spike Moyer, husband of Lori, Lonnie Gum, wife of Bill and the late Mark Moyer, husband of Donna, all of Manheim; six grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

The Funeral will be held 11 AM Saturday, December 10, 2011 in the Chapel of Manheim Brethren in Christ Church, 54 N. Penryn Rd., Manheim, PA, with The Rev. Lou Astuto officiating. Viewings will take place 2-3 PM and 6-8 PM on Friday, December 9, 2011 at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA. Interment with honors accorded by Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard and Veterans 21 Salute Honor Guard in Manheim Fairview Cemetery.
