Lester W. “Bill” Helm, 79

Lester W. “Bill” Helm, 79, formerly of Lancaster, PA, passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at home surrounded by family.
Born in Lancaster, PA, he was the son of the late William H. and Kathryn M. (Walton) Helm, Jr. He was the loving husband of Bonnie L. (Long) Helm, and they were married for 52 years.
Bill served nine years in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a proud veteran, serving three tours in Vietnam and achieving the rank of Sergeant. He was deeply honored for his service and received a Quilt of Valor from the VFW in recognition of his sacrifice and dedication to his country. Bill was a member of VFW Post 7234 in Ocean View, Delaware, and belonged to the Commercial Travelers Association in Lancaster. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and crabbing, especially when he could be near the water. He took great pride in his High-Country Chevy truck. Above everything, he adored his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and his family. He had a fun-loving personality, a great sense of humor, and a way of making those around him smile. He was very kind hearted and would do anything for anyone within reason.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; his children, Antoinette (Robert) Boas, Will (Megan) Helm, Tammy, and Peggy Duke; his siblings, Ronald (Dorothy) and Robert (Mary Anne) Helm; his grandchildren, Robert, Kathryn, Austin, Charlie, Marlee, Danny, William, Shawn, Dakotah, Amethyst, Briana, Ricky, David, and Josh; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Rick Helm; his siblings, John Walton, Charles Helm, and Ruth Thomas; his grandchildren, Jeremy Duke, Oliver, Arizona, and Nevada Helm; and a great-grandchild, Quinn.
Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, from 10AM to 11AM at Charles F. Snyder III Funeral Home & Crematory, 2421 Willow Street Pike, Willow Street, PA 17584. A Funeral Service will follow beginning at 11AM.
Interment will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, 60 Indiantown Gap Rd., Annville, PA 17003.

Our most sincere condolences to Bonnie and the rest of Bill’s family, hearing of his passing saddened me deeply.
