Jody Cherry
May 01, 2025
Jody Cherry, of York, PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 1, 2025, at WellSpan York Hospital. Born in Lancaster, he was the beloved son of Frances M. (Woodard) and the late James W. Cherry.
Jody was a talented barber who took great pride in his craft and loved going to work each day. His chair wasn’t just a place for haircuts—it was a place for conversation, laughter, and connection. Known for his warm spirit and generous heart, Jody was the ultimate host—whether it was a backyard cookout or a birthday celebration, he brought people together with his love of cooking and his infectious energy. Jody was “The Host with the Most,” he created lasting memories for all who gathered around him.
A devoted Philadelphia Eagles and 76ers fan, Jody’s passion for his teams was matched only by his love for family. He especially cherished time spent with his grandchildren, taking them to local parks, sharing stories, and making every moment special. He also enjoyed trips to the beach and Baltimore, always seeking joy in life’s simple pleasures.
Jody’s legacy lives on through his sons: Justin Cherry, Jeremy L. Cherry-Wilson of New York, and Joshua L. Cherry-Wilson of York; and his adored grandchildren: Anizjah, Avon, Ace, Aries, and Nellie. He is also survived by his loving siblings: Sharon Cherry (Ceasar) of York, Anthony Cherry (Maria) of Lancaster, Mark Cherry of York, and Frank Cherry (Stacey) of Arizona, along with several nieces, nephews, and his beloved dog, Beige.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Jack and Tina Cherry.
A Home Going Celebration honoring Jody’s life will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the Charles F. Snyder III Funeral Home and Crematory, 2421 Willow Street Pike, Willow Street, PA 17584. Family and friends are welcome to visit from 2:00 PM until the time of service.

Condolences to the Family

My condolences to Jodi family & friends. Jodi will forever have a special place in my heart. I been knowing him for many years through Kevin. I became his Tax Accountant and he became more than a client. He became like a brother to me. He always had a kind heart, good spirits & always caring to be there for anyone. I will deeply miss talking to him. Giving each other advice or just stopping by the barbershop to have a good conversation with Ryan & him. I love you my good friend/brother. I know even while resting in heavenly peace you will continue to watch over me. Gone to soon but you will never be forgotten! 🕊️💔🕊️

I will truly miss Jodi, my cousin. He was such a loving soul and a good spirited person. He was always there for any person in need and would give his last. Let me remind you that he was an awesome cook. His collard greens and chili the best I’ve ever had. Jodi, I love you and may you forever sleep in peace. My condolences to all family, loved ones and friends.
