William H. Schlegel

William H. Schlegel, 77, of New Providence, formerly of Philadelphia, PA, passed away on September 17, 2026, at home surrounded by his loving family. In New Providence, PA. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Alfred F. and Dorothy K. (Hoeflich) Schlegel. He was the beloved husband of Susan (Jacobson) Schlegel, with whom he shared over 58 years of marriage. 

William's greatest joy was his family. In addition to his wife, Susan, he is survived by his children, Shannon Brinson of Manheim, William H. Schlegel II of North Dakota, and Kerrilynn Troop of New Providence; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Frank Schlegel and Kathryn Pfeil; and several nieces and nephews.

Lovingly known as "Pop," he Spent the last 30 years Cruising and traveling, Pop especially cherished spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was also affectionately known as "Mr. Fix It," always ready to lend his skills and help solve a problem. A proud veteran of the United States Army, William will be remembered for his patience, kindness, gentle spirit, and unwavering willingness to help others. Above all, he will be cherished for the love he shared with his family and the memories he leaves behind. 

A Funeral Service will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at the Charles F. Snyder III Funeral Home and Crematory, 2421 Willow Street Pike, Willow Street, PA 17584. Family and friends will be received from 10AM until the time of service. Interment with military honors will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at 2PM on Thursday, September 24, 2026.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pennsylvania Wounded Warriorsor St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
