William E. Evans, Jr.

William E. Evans, Jr., 102, of Lititz, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 3, 2026. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Jennie (Flory) Evans and William E. Evans, Sr. He was the devoted husband of the late Grace (Wagner) Evans, with whom he shared 54 happy years of marriage.

A faithful member of the Lancaster Church of the Brethren, William lived a life rooted in service, kindness, and community. Prior to his retirement, he enjoyed a successful career as a realtor with Kingsway Realty, where his friendly demeanor and genuine care for others earned him the respect and trust of clients and colleagues alike. 

William was deeply involved in his community throughout his life. He served as a former officer of the Kiwanis Club and the Travelers Protective Association. He faithfully attended Wednesday Prayer Breakfasts and generously volunteered his time driving individuals to appointments for the American Cancer Society. He also participated in Adopt-A-Highway cleanups, always looking for ways to make his community a better place.

Known for greeting others with his signature phrase, "It's a beautiful sunshiny day," William had an outgoing and caring personality that brightened the lives of everyone he met. Whether lending a helping hand, sharing a smile, or simply offering words of encouragement, he was known for being friendly, compassionate, and always willing to help others.

William is survived by his loving daughter, Kathleen Mercer and her husband, James R., of New Hampshire; his grandchildren, Jacob D. Mercer and his wife, Courtney, of New Hampshire, and Isaac J. Mercer IV and his wife, Jessica, of New Hampshire; and his cherished great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Evan, Magnolia, and Isaac V, with another great-grandchild expected soon.In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Grace, William was preceded in death by his son, David L. Evans, and those family members who welcomed him into eternal peace.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Lancaster Church of the Brethren, 1601 Sunset Avenue, Lancaster, PA 17601. Family and friends are invited to gather and greet the family following the service.William's legacy of kindness, service, and optimism will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His reminder that every day is "a beautiful sunshiny day" will remain an enduring gift to those he leaves behind. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Brethren Village Good Samaritan Fund or the Brethren Disaster Relief Auction.
