Wesley “Dean” Stokes, 90, of Mount Joy, PA, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Lancaster General Hospital.
Born in Costa Mesa, CA, he was the son of the late Albert Charles Wesley Stokes and Helen Elizabeth (Wilkins) Stokes. He was the loving husband of Sara J. (Roland) Stokes.
Dean formerly served as a probation officer in Orange City, CA, where he dedicated his time to helping others. A lifelong resident of California, Dean’s life took a beautiful turn when he met his wife, Sara, while singing together in their church choir. The two later made their home in Lancaster County, where they continued to share their love of music. Dean had a passion for singing and was proud to have performed in the choir at UCLA. Music remained an important part of his life, alongside his many other interests. He loved to travel, especially to Jamaica or anywhere he could enjoy the beach. A devoted sports fan, Dean especially enjoyed football. He also had a love for the theater and took great pleasure in attending live shows. Known for his sense of humor, Dean was a natural jokester who brought joy and laughter to those around him.
He is survived by his wife, Sara; his sons, Deron (Jaqueline) Stokes and Devin Stokes; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Albert “Paul” Stokes.
Friends and family will be received from 10AM to 11AM on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Long Memorial United Methodist Church, 2660 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601. A Celebration of Dean’s life will follow beginning at 11AM.
