Walter Kriebel Trumbauer, 88, died July 14, 2026, at Luther Acres, Lititz, where he was a resident. He was born in Norristown, PA to Nora (Kriebel) and J. Edgar Trumbauer and grew up on a farm in Towamencin Township. He was married to Alice (Morrow) Trumbauer for 64 years.
Walt graduated from Lansdale High School in 1955 and attended Penn State University and Cornell University, graduating in 1961 as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. He served as a First Lieutenant and Captain in the U.S. Army Veterinary Corps from 1961 to 1963. In 1966, he and Alice established a general veterinary practice in Ephrata until they retired in 1997.
He is survived by three children: Martha (Victor) Brown, Mary Trumbauer (Charles Miller), and Virginia (Simon) Williams. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Matthew (Mary Ann Wright) Brown, Michael Brown (Erin Warner), and Charlotte and James Williams, as well as sister Phoebe Markley, brother John (Myrna) Trumbauer and sister-in-law Elizabeth Trumbauer and a multitude of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Walt was preceded in death by his grandson Benjamin Thomas Williams and brother Wesley.
Walt was a member of Bethany United Church of Christ, Ephrata, where he held various volunteer positions, including Elder. He was an active volunteer in agricultural education in local schools and was a member of the Clay Township Zoning Hearing Board and served on the Board of Directors of the Ephrata Public Library and the Ephrata National Bank for many years.
Following retirement Walt became an active volunteer in agricultural development programs in Uganda and Moldova as well as a volunteer for the Lancaster County Watersheds Water Quality Volunteer Coalition as a member of a streams survey team.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lancaster Farmland Trust, 125 Lancaster Avenue, Strasburg, PA 17579.
Visitation will take place at Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543 on July 28th between 4 and 6 pm. A memorial service will be held on July 29th at Bethany United Church of Christ, 140 East Main Street, Ephrata, at 1 pm. Burial will be private.
