Walter A. Orantes

Walter Orantes, 61, a resident of Neffsville, passed away on the morning of Tuesday, March 17, 2026. Born in San Marcos, El Salvador, Walter made Lancaster, PA his home—choosing to stay for his children and building a life rooted in family, friendship, and community.

Walter worked as a machine operator at High Steel, part of the High Companies, where his warmth and easy laugh made him someone people were always glad to be around. He had a gift for conversation—able to talk with anyone about anything, regardless of background or status—and a way of making others feel genuinely welcome.

He is survived by his two children, Jennifer and Christopher Orantes; his sister, Patricia Orantes; his nephew, Benjamin Rubio; and his parents and extended family.

Walter loved the outdoors, fishing, trips with friends, baseball, football, country music, and reading the newspaper. Few things made him happier than cold beers and good company around a table.
