Virginia Marie Swift

Virginia Marie Swift, 70, of Columbia, PA, and formerly of Lancaster, PA, passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2026, at Lancaster General Hospital. She shared 37 years of marriage with her husband Robert A. Swift, Sr. before his passing in 2019.

Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Paul T. and Helen “Ginny” (Carney) Beats. Virginia graduated from J. P. McCaskey High School, Class of 1974, and worked as a laundry specialist at Conestoga View for over 45 years.

She enjoyed caring for her home and family. Most precious to Virginia was spending time with her family, especially with her grandson Terrence. She loved vacationing at Ocean City, MD and going on spontaneous trips with a co-worker and her sisters.

Virginia’s family includes her son, Robert A. Swift, Jr, husband of Francisca Ortiz-Swift of Columbia, her grandchildren, Terrence Swift, Adam Mejias, Chassity Mejias, and Azariah Cosme, her great-granddaughter Isabelle Ingram, her four siblings, Paul T. Beats, Jr., Deborah Beats, Douglas Beats, Sr., husband of Diane, and Aileen Kilby, wife of the late Ronald Kilby, Sr., and many nieces and nephews including two who were her caregivers: Shawna Bloom and De’Lyilah Rebman. In addition to her parents and husband, Virgina was preceded in death by her brother, William Beats, Jr.

A viewing will take place from 9 to 11 am, followed by the funeral at 11 am with The Rev. Robert Garvey officiating on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E. King Street, Lancaster, PA 17602. Interment will follow at Conestoga Memorial Park.
