Victor Philippe Lyet, 77, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Homefields following a recent illness. Born in Lancaster, he was the middle of three sons of the late J. Paul Lyet II and Dorothy L. Lyet.
Predeceased by the recent January death of his younger brother Ted Lyet and sister Juliette Summy, wife of Jay in 2022, Ted is survived by siblings Suzanne Ollar, wife of Peter and brother J. Paul Lyet MD, husband of Kathleen, all of whom live in the Lancaster area.
In spite of IDD challenges similar to his brother Ted, Victor made friends easily at ODC and later at Ephrata Area Rehab Service (EARS) logging over 20 years of service and engaging the affection from co-workers and staff. Even in his formative years, Vic was always soft-spoken, even tempered with a twinkle in his eye that endeared him to all. When pushed to his limit however, he would reactively blurt a short, unexpected “one-liner” that could instantly neutralize any stressful situation into laughter. I wish we could all do that!
Many of Vic’s childhood summer hours with family at the Chesapeake Bay were spent crabbing off the pier and enjoying the glory of his catch before returning them all. Cooler weather was frequented with visits to his Nanna in Philadelphia where he was entranced by trolly-car rides and trips on the train. As an adult, his travel interest evolved to camper excursions to the Bay and later, full-sized RV rentals with tours through Lancaster County. Victor had a monumental collection of keys started from childhood and, amazingly, could identify most. Above all, Vic loved holidays and random get-togethers with family and friends. On these special occasions only, he would sometimes enjoy a tall glass of champagne and affectionately earned the moniker of “Mr. Bubbles” as it also suited his cheshire smile and affable personality. Like brother Teddy, he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
A private memorial service will be held for both Vic and Ted at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Victor’s memory may be made to Homefields, 150 Letort Rd, Millersville, Pa, 17551.
