Toveah D. Mirot, 78, of Lancaster, PA passed away on June 19th, 2026, surrounded by family and friends. “Tovie”, was born Deborah on February 19th, 1948, to Jules and Dorethea Mirot of Glencoe, Illinois. The eldest child was a big sister to her brothers Max and Michael. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin Madison, she worked in a variety of jobs while pursuing her passions for art, environmental activism and spirituality. In Lancaster, she was a reliable and essential employee at Brimmer License Services.
Toveah was an active member of the Jewish community through her membership with Temple Beth El. She was passionate about cooking and learning about foods from around the world. The small garden surrounding her home was always full of vegetables and flowers. She connected with and befriended many people through her concern and activism for protecting the environment. Living in Lancaster City since 1988, she was a colorful thread in the fabric of Lancaster’s close-knit Jewish, artistic, sustainability and other communities. Tovie loved life and valiantly fought her disease to live as long as possible. She is characterized by her friends as being generous in spirit, intelligent and possessing a wry sense of humor.
Toveah is survived by her brothers, Max and Michael Mirot, her children and partners, Raphael Pepi and Yukari, Leif Droms and Lisa, Peirs Droms-Nakano and Ayako, as well as her grandchildren Sena, Nina, and Oto. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jules and Dorethea, “Dee”, Mirot.
Toveah’s funeral and memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday June 22nd at Temple Beth El, 1836 Rohrerstown Rd, Lancaster, PA 17601. A celebration of life is also still in planning for Wednesday June 24th, with more details to come.
