Theodore M. Freedman

Theodore M. Freedman, 94, formerly of Lancaster, PA, passed away at Brethren Village in Lititz, PA on Monday, May 11, 2026. Ted shared 52 years of marriage with his wife Florence Mattern Freedman. They met at Lancaster Hiking Club and were married in the chapel at Lancaster Catholic High School on May 4, 1974.

He was born in York, PA, the son of the late Edward A. and Helen (Piperberg) Freedman. Ted completed Army Signal School and served during the Korean War as a Corporal with Army Forces Far East, General Staff Group, 8097th Army Unit in Korea.

Following his Army discharge Ted worked as an associate engineering technician for RCA, GE, Burle Industries, and lastly Philips. Ted was known to be able to fix anything.

He was of the Jewish Faith. Ted was a very likeable guy and great joker always with good one-liners.

A member of Susquehanna Yacht Club for over 50 years, Ted enjoyed sailing on Lake Clarke on the Susquehanna River. He was a ham radio operator and was always available to help with public communication following a disaster.

Ted had been active in the library book sale, Office of Aging, Lancaster Cancer Center, and Friends of Manheim Township Library.

In addition to his wife Florence, Ted’s family includes two nephews, one great niece, and two great nephews. His parents and his sister Reida Weiner preceded Ted in death.

Ted will be laid to rest with Military Honors on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, 60 Indiantown Gap Road, Annville, PA 17003.
