Terry W. Blue, 82, of Washington Boro passed away peacefully on Monday, August 3, 2026 in St. Anne's Retirement Community, Columbia. He was the beloved husband of 60 years to Susan (Miller) Blue.
Born in Johnstown, PA in 1943, he was the son of the late Loren & Elizabeth (Nagy) Blue.
Terry graduated from Juniata College and began his career as an Educator. He taught in middle school at Upper Moreland, Willow Grove. He obtained a Master's Degree from Temple and left to complete a PhD at Penn State University. He was then hired at Franklin and Marshall to teach and chair the Education Department.
When the department was eliminated he designed and built custom homes as the owner of Timberline Originals, during which time he designed and built their home in Washington Boro, his masterpiece.
After 8 years he returned to his original passion of education at Elizabethtown College where he taught and was again the chair of the Education Department. After over 20 years, he "retired" in 2009 but returned to Penn State Harrisburg to assist with an administrative project. He finally fully retired in 2012.
While Terry's passion was education, he believed that teachers were the pillars of society and knowledge, shaping minds and shaping the future. He transitioned to retirement and quickly became an avid golfer. He also shared much of his time, creativity and energy as the chair of the Homefield's golf tournament. He served in that role for over 25 years. He served on several boards, both professional and community, over the years and always brought energy and creativity to the role.
He was an avid writer and submitted monthly letters to the editor to the Lancaster Newspaper, earning the distinction of being one of the most frequently published contributors. He was a favored uncle and great uncle to several, always developing fun, creative activities for their visits. He was a brilliant, funny, creative, hardworking man. He will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his wife, Susan, a sister, Debbie Fuska, Johnstown, a sister-in-law, Viona Blue, Johnstown and Mary (Betsy) Bullock, Jamison, as well as nephews and nieces in abundance.
A celebration of life will be held at a date to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Terry may be made to Homefields (www.homefields.org/donate) or Juniata College.
