Teresa (Tese) Mason Speitel, 97, of Lancaster passed away on February 28, 2026. Born January 11,1929, in Coatesville, PA, she was the daughter of the late John Henry and Agnes Becker Mason. Teresa was the wife of the late Charles (Chic) P. Speitel Jr., who passed away on January 31, 2023. They were united in marriage on September 19, 1952, at Holy Child Catholic Church in Philadelphia. She was one of seven children and was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard Mason, Kenneth Mason, and Robert Mason; and three sisters, Agnes Howell, Eleanor Brooks, and Carol Hanna. Surviving are five daughters, Susan Rothfus (Robert), Sally Kaylor (David), Lynn May (Jeffrey), Bonny Groft (Brian), Margaret (Peggy) Bennett (Patrick) and two sons, Charles (Paul) Speitel III (Kathy Bridge) and the Reverend Mark Mason Speitel, fourteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Teresa graduated from Little Flower High School in Philadelphia in 1948. She was first employed as a retail merchandiser and later as a retail clothing buyer. After marriage, she volunteered for the Junior League of Lancaster, but her main focus and devotion was to her husband and raising seven children. To sum up her life, Teresa was a devout Catholic who loved all God’s children, and she loved being a wife, homemaker, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. After her children were raised, Teresa continued her passion of caring for children by helping with her grandchildren and working as a preschool teacher.
