Sylvia A. Miller, 87 of Lititz, passed away at Luther Acres on July 6, 2026. Formerly of Leesport, PA she was the wife of Larry D. Miller, for 69 years on May 18th, 2026. Totally devoted to her loving husband, she loved being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was the daughter of the late Helen F. Drake Spease and the late Frederick F. Spease.
Sylvi was a 1956 Schuylkill Valley High School. She worked at CK Whitmer in the credit dept. until 1957. She retired form JC Penney Co. in 2001 after working there for 29 years.
She was a member of St. Peters Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lancaster, where she sang in the choir, and hoped one day to be in the Heavenly choir. She believed in angels, the messengers of God.
Sylvia enjoyed all kinds of music, enjoyed reading, cooking and baking for her family and friends, the outdoors and flower gardening. She truly enjoyed the beach, especially Ocean City, MD and her monthly luncheons with her Red Hat friends. She was a Manheim Twp. Lion for many years and was named a Melvin K. Jones Fellow on July 9, 2002, a volunteer at the Neffsville Fire Co., Sylvia enjoyed helping in the kitchen for their soup and pie sales, where they made Shoo-Fly pie and Lemon Sponge Pie. At St. Peters she made her best strawberry pie recipe for the strawberry festival.
In addition to her husband, Sylvia is survived by her children: Douglas S. married to Deborah Miller of Strasburg, Karen L. Harle married to Darrel of Schuylkill Haven, Craig A. Miller of San Pedro, CA, and Davonna J. Carpenter, married to Carl of Deatsville, AL; 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and sister, Eileen Malandra married to Michael of Bernville, PA.
Friends will be received by her family on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 from 10-11am at St Peters Lutheran Church, 10 Delp Rd., Lancaster, PA 17601, with Memorial Service to follow at 11AM. Private interment will be in St Peters Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Sylvia’s memory to the St. Peters Lutheran Church at the to benefit the church choir.
