Stephen K. Young, DVM

Stephen K. Young, DVM, 65, of Willow Street, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, June 5, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Buffalo, New York, he was the son of the late Darrell and Judith (Gray) Young.

Steve graduated from Williamsville North High School, Class of 1979, before earning his undergraduate degree in Microbiology and later his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Iowa State University.

Steve was the devoted husband of Stephanie (Kuchar) Young, with whom he shared 35 years of marriage. Together they built a life centered on family, friendship, and unwavering support for one another.

A dedicated veterinarian, Steve faithfully served the community through his work at Animal Hospital of Willow Street from January 2001 until May 2026. For Steve, veterinary medicine was more than a profession—it was a calling. He cared deeply for his patients and their families, building lasting relationships and earning the trust, respect, and friendship of countless clients and colleagues throughout his career.

Steve was an Eagle Scout whose love of the outdoors remained a constant throughout his life. He found great joy at the family lake house, where he enjoyed spending time with loved ones and creating cherished memories. An avid swimmer, he enjoyed the challenge and camaraderie of participating in triathlons throughout the years. He also enjoyed running and cycling, always embracing opportunities to stay active and spend time outdoors. A lifelong Buffalo Bills fan, he faithfully cheered on his team through every season and proudly carried his Buffalo roots with him wherever life took him. He often joked that he never had enough time at the lake house and looked forward to the day when he could finally relax and be bored there. Whether he was swimming, spending time on the water, watching the Bills, or gathering with family and friends, Steve appreciated life's simple pleasures and believed that time spent together was time well spent. Above all, Steve will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, friend, and mentor. He was known for his kindness, intelligence, generosity, and unwavering dedication to the people and animals he cared for. His steady presence, thoughtful advice, and quiet sense of humor touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed.

In addition to his wife, Stephanie, he is survived by his daughter, Allyson Young, wife of Jameson Ahola of Aurora, Ohio; his son, Nathaniel Young of Willow Street, Pennsylvania; his sister, Deborah Kekedy, wife of Steve, of Newbury, Ohio; his nephews, Michael Kekedy and Daniel Kekedy and his wife, Julia; his niece, Melissa Bradshaw and her husband, Brice; and his great-nephew, Asa Bradshaw.

Family and friends will be received from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at Charles F. Snyder III Funeral Home & Crematory, 2421 Willow Street Pike, Willow Street, PA 17584, and again from 10:00 to 11:00 AM on Monday, June 15, 2026.
