Shirley A. Shuffelbottom

Shirley A. Shuffelbottom, 90, of Lancaster, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Providence Place of Lancaster. Prior to that, Shirley spent most of her adult life residing in Willow Street, Lancaster County.

Born in Millway, PA, she was the daughter of the late Ivan and Irene (Adams) Leeking. She was also the wife of the late Howard C. Shuffelbottom.

Shirley was the youngest of three daughters, her oldest sister being Marie Ferrel, who died in 2011; and next older sister, Doris Witwer, who died in 2025. She attended and graduated from Warwick Township High School, where she enjoyed playing in the high school band. Following graduation, Shirley worked as a Laboratory Technician at several facilities throughout the Lancaster area before retiring. Shirley was married to her husband Howard C. Shuffelbottom for 67 years before his death in June 2025. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Millersville for many years. She was a devoted member of the church choir and cherished the friendships and fellowship she found there. Shirley enjoyed spending time in the kitchen preparing meals for those she loved and was known as an amazing cook, especially of PA Dutch cuisine. She enjoyed reading and solving various types of puzzles which brought her much happiness in her days off work or while relaxing. Shirley had a deep love and caring for animals and was known to rescue many cats and dogs over the years who were either wandering the countryside in need of a home or who were abandoned and left at a shelter.

She is survived by her sons, Mark (Laura Usack) Shuffelbottom and Eric (Wanlee) Shuffelbottom; and grandsons, Eric (Merecedes) Jr. and Justin Shuffelbottom.

Services for Shirley are being held privately at the request of the family.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Shirley's name to St. Paul Lutheran Church of Millersville, the Lancaster SPCA, or the Humane League.
