Santa Ana Gonzalez, 83, of Lancaster, passed away at Hospice & Community Care on Thursday, March 19, 2026.
Born in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Santos Mercardo and Eustolia Segarra. Ana shared 61 years of marriage with her loving husband William E. Gonzalez before his passing on November 5, 2025.
Ana and William lived in The Bronx, NY, for many years before moving to Lancaster. Very entrepreneurial, they owned a candy store and a record store in New York, and then Ana was the Bagel Lady at Lancaster Central Market.
They enjoyed Salsa dancing. Ana was quite a character. She was loving and caring and was always doing service work to help people with her servant’s heart. She enjoyed being a bell ringer for the Salvation Army. Ana was very funny and she was a great cook.
Ana’s family includes her son, William Gonzalez, Jr., of San Antonio, TX, three grandchildren, Samantha Gonzalez, Carina Gonzalez, and Miana Gonzalez, three great-grandchildren, Jaxon Barrera, Jayden Barrera, and Jayla Barrera, her brothers, Ray Rodriguez, husband of Susan of Carencro, LA, and Antulio “Bucky” Rodriguez, husband of Denise Micele of Stratford, CT, her sister, Mildred Negron, companion of Ileana Angel Bello of Middleburg, FL, and her best friends, Awilda and Nino Lopez of York, PA.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ana was preceded in death by her sister Mariana Fiss.
A viewing will take place from 10 to 10:30 AM, followed by the funeral at 10:30 AM, on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & crematory, 414 E. King Street, Lancaster, PA 17602. Interment will be in Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery.
