Ruth B. Evans, age 100, passed away peacefully of natural causes at St. Anne's Retirement Community.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Florence Adam. Ruth was a graduate and valedictorian of Bishop McDevitt High School. She began her career with the Bell Telephone Company in Harrisburg and later continued her work with the company after moving to Shillington, Pennsylvania. After relocating to Lancaster, she was employed by what is now Wells Fargo.
She was married to Charles J. Evans for 54 years until his passing in 2002. Ruth was a longtime member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church.
She is survived by three sons: Charles J. Evans III of North Kingstown, Rhode Island, husband of the late Donna Evans; Michael Evans of Clifton, Maine, husband of Mary (Fusarok) Evans; and Margaret Evans of Glenmont, New York, widow of her son Lawrence Evans. She is also survived by two daughters, Kathleen Evans of Bucksport, Maine, and Barbara Evans of Mountville; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Ruth was preceded in death by her son, Lawrence Evans, two sisters, and one brother.
Family invites friends to a viewing on Monday, June 22, 2026, at St. Leo the Great Catholic Cemetery, 2427 Marietta Avenue, Lancaster, PA 17601, from 10 to 11am. A Mass will follow at 11am. Ruth will be laid to rest beside her husband at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
