Ronald S. "Ron" Mowry

Ronald S. “Ron” Mowry, 77, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 6, 2026. Born in New Castle, PA, he was the son of the late Earl and Loretta (Champ) Mowry.

Ron was a man who knew how to enjoy life. He appreciated the finer things and took pride in how he presented himself. He loved being outdoors and could often be found golfing, fishing, gardening, cooking or simply enjoying the warmth of the sun. Whether he was just spending time outside with friends, or enjoying a good meal and conversation, Ron was happiest when he was surrounded by people and making the most of the moment. Ron worked as a manager in the transportation industry before retiring. But his work was only one part of his life. Ron was a true people person. He had a quick wit and a wonderful sense of humor, and he had a way of making people laugh and feel welcome. His personality, his stories, and his ability to find humor in life will be remembered by all who knew him.

Above all, Ron loved his family. He had a special place in his heart for his grandson, Beau Porterfield, and treasured the time they were able to spend together. Those moments, along with the memories made with his daughters, family, and friends, were among the things that brought him the greatest happiness. He leaves behind many memories and will be deeply missed by those fortunate enough to have known him.

Ron is survived by his daughters, Nicolette Mowry, Jennifer Porterfield, and Heather Mowry; his beloved grandson, Lee Beauregard “Beau” Porterfield; one sister, Mary Jo; and many additional family members and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Loretta Mowry, and two siblings Thomas and Geralyn.

A memorial service to honor Ron’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at Charles F. Snyder III Funeral Home & Crematory, 2421 Willow Street Pike, Willow Street, PA 17584. Friends and relatives will be received prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 PM.
