Ronald J. “Jay” Lack Jr.

Ronald “Jay” J. Lack Jr.passed away on June 2, 2026, after a short battle with cancer. He was born on October 8, 1960, in Manhattan, New York. He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald “Speed” Lack Sr., and his mother, Helen “Honey” Lack (Cascio).

Jay was the kind of person who left an impression wherever he went. He was funny, kind, loyal, and creative. Through his gift for building and construction, he could create almost anything he imagined. When his daughters were young, he channeled that creativity into renovating homes, inventing larger-than-life characters, and telling make-believe stories that are still remembered and talked about today.

Later in life, Jay brought that same passion and talent to large construction and management projects, including helping create a children’s play area at Hershey Medical Center. He was a superintendent with Wohlsen Construction and was recognized several times for his excellence with construction and management. No matter the size of the project, he took pride in building things that would bring joy and serve others.

Jay was the perfect blend of grown-up and kid at heart. He could be serious when life called for it, but he never lost his sense of fun. His home was always stocked with desserts and sweets, and it was a running joke that he ate like a twelve-year-old. Yet when he stepped into the kitchen, he could make enough chicken or eggplant parmigiana for an army.

More than anything, Jay loved deeply. Time and distance never weakened the bonds he shared with family and friends. If you hadn’t seen him in months—or years—he greeted you as if no time had passed at all. He made people feel valued, welcomed, and loved. He was also incredibly generous. Jay was the kind of man who would buy you a beer and spend the evening telling you how great his shirt was, only to give it to you, right off his back, the moment you asked for it.

Jay is survived by his daughters, Jamie Roda (Christopher) and Amelia Lack (Robert), who were the pride and joy of his life. He also leaves behind four beloved grandchildren—Ayden, Fayeth, Roman, and Isla—along with his sisters, Cynthia, Rhonda, and Desiree, who were lovingly beside him through his final days. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends whose lives were made brighter by knowing him.

Jay will be remembered for his laughter, his creativity, his generous heart, and the way he made people feel at home. The stories he told, the things he built, and the love he shared will continue to live on in the family and friends who loved him.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. A private celebration of Jay’s life will be held this fall.
