Ronald “Ron” Lee Horn Sr., a man who lived with an open heart and a steadfast sense of duty, passed away surrounded by family on March 29, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of service, laughter, and an unwavering devotion to his family.
Born on May 6, 1949, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, to the late Bill and Gloria Horn, Ron was a proud graduate of McCaskey High School. Following graduation, he answered the call to serve "God and country," spending four years in the United States Navy—an experience that shaped his lifelong commitment to his fellow veterans.
Ron was a man of action and a pillar of his community. He found deep purpose in volunteering his time with Make-A-Wish and the Building Bridges Foundation at Anderson Farm. Perhaps his most cherished contribution was serving with the Red Rose Honor Guard, where he provided final honors to fallen veterans, solemnly piping the boatswain’s whistle to see them home.
Known as the life of every party, Ron possessed a legendary generosity. He was truly the kind of man who would give the shirt off his back to a stranger and his last hour of the day to a friend. While his interests were many, he became a passionate soccer fan later in life—a transformation sparked entirely by his favorite player on the pitch, his granddaughter, Annaleigh.
Ron is reunited in peace with the love of his life, Judy Horn; his honorary daughter, Rebecca Horn; and his parents.
His memory will be carried forward by his children: Ronald Horn Jr. (fiancé Shannon), Joseph Horn (Shannon), and Kimberly Horn. He remains the proud grandfather of Annaleigh Horn and is survived by his brother, Bill Horn (Ginny), as well as a large, loving circle of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11AM on Monday, April 6, 2026 at the Charles F. Snyder III Funeral Home and Crematory, 2421 Willow Street Pike, Willow Street, PA 17584. Family and friends will be received from 10AM until the time of service. He will be laid to rest at Saint Joseph New Roman Catholic Cemetery. In remembrance of Ron's life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to Building Bridges Foundation or Make-A-Wish.
