Robert L. McCowin

Robert L. "Sleepy," McCowin, 85, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 12, 2026, at Lancaster General Hospital.

Born on March 2, 1941, in Mount Joy, he was the son of the late Arthur and Bessie (Taylor) McCowin. Robert was the beloved husband of Elizabeth A. McCowin, who preceded him in death in 2012.

Robert spent many years working as a driver at Waste Management, retiring after a dedicated career. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and friend who loved time spent sitting on his porch and visiting Turkey Hill with friends. He enjoyed the friendships he built throughout the years, including his dear friend Albert.

He is survived by his daughters, Sarah R. Thomas and Christina L. McCowin; three grandchildren, Shaheen Thomas, Elijah Farlow-McCowin, and Nasir Farlow; two great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Alina; his niece, Angie McCowin Millzaps; and his sister-in-law, Betty Hogue.

In addition to his wife and parents, Robert was preceded in death by his daughters, Rochelle and Roberta, as well as his brothers, Cecil, Arthur, Perry, and John.

Home Going Services will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 3pm at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory 414 E. King St. Lancaster, PA 17602. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 2 to 3pm
