Robert George “Bob” Weiss, 86, died peacefully surrounded by family on May 10, 2026.

He was born in Paterson, NJ and graduated from Xavier High School, NYC in 1957. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of the Holy Cross in 1961 and received a law degree from Georgetown University in 1964.

After graduating from Georgetown, he joined his father, Edward and his brother Fred at the law firm of Weiss & Delucia with offices in Paterson and Wayne, NJ. They were later joined by his nephew Peter, and he practiced law for over fifty years at the family firm. Bob was a longtime member of the Passaic County Bar Association and New Jersey State Bar Association, served as Planning Board Attorney for North Haledon, where he was also a member of the Board of Education. Bob was a former president of the Haledon Rotary Club and was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International. He was a member of the board at Neumann Prep High School. Bob also served as Municipal Court Judge for the Borough of Butler and was a past member of North Jersey Country Club. He was also a member of the Charter Club in Paterson, NJ and was a Eucharistic minister at St. Paul’s R.C. Church, Haledon, NJ, and Our Lady of Consolation R.C. Church, Wayne, NJ.

Bob was blessed with a large and loving family. He married Anita Marie Hinchliffe on August 24, 1963. Bob and Anita had five children, Rosemary, Julia, Ann, Christine, and Bobby (Robert, Jr). Bob was a loving father and a loyal friend who was happiest when surrounded by his family. He helped raise his children by teaching them to love God, each other, and nature. Known for his great sense of humor, Bob brought warmth and laughter wherever he went. He also enjoyed good food and drink, cherished animals, especially the many dogs that were a part of his life. Dinners and holidays with friends and family at the longtime family home in North Haledon were some of his warmest and most cherished memories. Bob was very active in his community and valued the friendships and connections he made throughout his life. He delighted in summer and fall trips to Vermont with his family, as well as sharing his love for hunting and fishing, especially at Griffin’s Lodge in Gananoque, Canada; Amwell and Black Meadow in Warwick, NY.

Robert is survived by his wife of 62 years, children: Rosemary Meland and husband Rick of Pittsburgh, PA; Julia Belser and husband Bob of Lancaster, PA; Ann Hanrahan and husband Chris of Rocky River, OH; Christine LaBranche and husband Rob of Eastham, MA; son Bobby and wife Suzanne of Duxbury, MA; his 16 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on May 23, 2026, at Saint John Neumann Catholic Church, 601 E Delp Rd, Lancaster, PA 17601, at 10:30AM. Friends and family will be greeted prior to Mass beginning at 9:30AM. An additional celebration of Bob’s life is scheduled for July 17th at his home parish, Our Lady of Consolation, Wayne, NJ, with a time to be determined.

The family would also like to thank the staff at Lancaster General Hospital for providing skilled and compassionate care to Bob. Donations in his memory can be made to Our Lady of Consolation Church, Mission of San Pablo,1799 Hamburg Tpk., Wayne, NJ 07470.
