Richard A. Nicklaus

Richard "Rick" Allen Nicklaus, 73, beloved husband and father passed away on September 29, 2026, peacefully in his sleep after a long cancer battle.

Born June 12, 1953, in Coatesville, Pennsylvania, to Carl H. Nicklaus and Isabelle (Leslie, Nicklaus) Urbine. He grew up in Lancaster PA and graduated from Conestoga Valley High School in 1972.

Rick married Diane Hendershott on March 30, 1973, and together they made their home in Lancaster, where they raised two children. He spent 43 years working in construction with Lancaster School District, his own business RAN Construction and finished his career with Wohlsen Construction retiring in 2015.

Outside of work, Rick was known for his love of family, holiday celebrations, his homemade wing sauce. He had many hobbies woodworking, picking Maryland Crabs, poker night with friends, love of Rolling Rock beer, hunting, volleyball, cooking, and bowling league. He loved to spend time at home in his backyard Oasis, and vacationing in Ocean City Maryland during the summer. He was also able to take a European Vacation in 2019 with the family touring France, Switzerland and Italy.

He is survived by his wife Diane, his daughter Tonya Marburger, wife of Alexander Marburger, son Craig Nicklaus, grandson, Austin C. Marburger, sister Dena Schrober and Mother Isabelle Urbine. He was preceded in death by his father Carl Nicklaus and sister Deb Neville.
