Richard H. Kasting

Richard H. Kasting, 79, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2026. Born in Indianapolis, IN, he was the son of the late Howard E. and LaVelle J. (Alexander) Kasting. He was married 30 years to his beloved wife Frieda (Hutter) Kasting.

Rich was a proud veteran of the US Army and served as a tanker while stationed in Germany during the Vietnam war. He obtained his bachelor's degree from Leigh Valley College and worked as a mechanical engineer for W.R. Grace and later for Sealed Air. Rich was a talented bowler and was a member of various leagues in Lancaster County. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and the occasional round of golf. He will be affectionately remembered for his easygoing personality, kind heart, and love for people. He was a 50+ year member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church.

In addition to his wife Frieda, Rich is survived by 4 children: Peter Loser, Laura Fetter (Anthony), Richard Kasting (Tina), and Sally Sunday (Travis); 8 grandchildren: Andrew Fetter (Alexa), Alexa Mousetis (Matthew), Joshua Loser (Kristie), Nathan Chadwick (Hannah), Nicholas Dugan (Delanie), Pierce Kasting, Holden Sunday, and Ember Sunday; 2 great-grandchildren: Klyde Fetter and Chloe Mousetis; and 2 siblings: Dale Kasting (Susan) and Joyce Milus (the late Mike).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026, at 11 AM at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 601 E. Delp Rd, Lancaster, PA 17601. The family will receive guests beginning at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Brownstown Evangelical Cemetery.
