Richard M. Dunn, II, 69, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 22, 2026, in Penn Medicine Lancaster General Hospital after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of 39 years to Kimberly (Roschel) Dunn.
Born in Lancaster in 1956, Rick was the son of the late Richard M. and Dorothy J. (Templeton) Dunn. His family briefly lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, before settling in Anaheim, California, in 1962. It was there that Rick spent much of his childhood, along with his older brother, Mike, and younger sister, Kathy. He developed a lifelong love of sports and played baseball and basketball competitively throughout his youth. He graduated from Katella High School in 1975. Rick worked as a ball boy for the Anaheim Angels, an experience that gave him many entertaining stories about meeting major league players.
Rick later returned to Pennsylvania to work for his grandfather at Wisehaven Swimming Pool and to spend time with his extended family. After meeting his wife, Kim, and starting a family, he made Lancaster his permanent home. He worked many years at Lancaster General Hospital in IT Support and Medical Records before retiring earlier this year. Outside of work, Rick was devoted to his family and community. He coached his daughters' basketball teams, served as an assistant coach for the Hempfield High School girls' basketball team, and coached recreational league basketball. He especially enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events and spending time with his family whenever they were together.
Rick is survived by his wife, Kim; his daughters, Alicia Kelly and husband Sean, Andrea Connell and husband Patrick; his grandchildren, Avery Kelly, Rory Connell, and Matilda Connell; his brother, Michael Dunn, and wife Tiffany; and his sister, Kathy Hazelwood, and husband James.
Relatives and friends will be received by his family on Friday, July 31, 2026, after 10:00am in the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home and Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543, where his funeral service will follow at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in the columbarium at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery, Bausman.
