Richard "Dan" Diller, Jr.

Richard “Dan” Diller Jr., of York, passed away at his home on September 7, 2026. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Richard D. Diller Sr. and Iris (Brodhecker) Diller.

From a very young age, it was apparent that Dan was a sponge for knowledge. He had a deep love for history and science fiction. As such, he was an avid reader, often finishing multiple books in a week, and then going on to read his siblings’ school textbooks for fun. His general knowledge across so many subjects made him a great Jeopardy player, resulting in him becoming his family’s permanent host so it was a fair game amongst them. His love for books extended into adulthood, where he loved lining his shelves with as many books as he could find. He also enjoyed music, whether it was listening to showtunes as a child, collecting vinyls to play in his apartment, or popping in his earbuds to listen to classical music while he read, it was ever-present. While he was reserved, he cared for his family deeply, especially his many nieces and nephews. Every year, he made sure to take each and every one of them out for lunch and a shopping spree for their birthdays. He also in recent years would go to lunch with his siblings so that, despite their hectic individual schedules, they could catch up and be with one another regularly. He lived a quiet life, but he will be dearly missed by those who had the opportunity to know him.

Dan is survived by his siblings, Kathleen Diller, Deborah Carello (wife of the late Ralph Carello), and Barbara Sensenig (wife of Jeff); sister in-law Peggy Sue Diller; nieces and nephews Melanie Steffy, Jennifer Cosgrove, Nina Dejewski, Jennifer Weise, Scott Sensenig, Adam Sensenig, Andrea Diller, and Allison Bieske; 20 great nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family. He is preceded by his parents; brother Paul Diller; and nephew Christopher Carello.

Friends and relatives are welcomed to Charles Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, 441 N. George St., Millersville, PA 17551 on Monday, October 12, 2026, at 10AM, with a memorial service following at 11AM. Dan will be laid to rest with his parents at Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery.
