R. Marc Barley

R. Marc Barley, 63, of Lancaster, passed away after a courageous and hard-fought battle with cancer.

Born on April 1, 1963, Marc was the loving son of the late Richard M. and E. Jane (Schultz) Barley. He was a devoted father to Erin N. Barley & Dude, a proud Pop Pop to Alivia and Ari Abreu, and the longtime companion of Betsy Grier.

Marc was a 1981 graduate of Manheim Township High School and a lifelong resident of Lancaster Country Club Estates. Known for his strong work ethic, entrepreneurial spirit, and ability to fix just about anything, Marc was a true jack of all trades. Over the years, he owned and operated several businesses, including swimming pool and concrete companies but was best known for his craftsmanship in kitchen remodeling and owner of Kitchen Saver.

Growing up Marc was a member of Boy Scout Troop 99, a marksmen in rifle, a swimmer and soccer player, making friends all along the way. A lifelong motorhead, and member of the Porsche Club of America, Marc loved going fast, anything with a throttle and the smell of two-stroke in the morning. He enjoyed collecting cars and had a special love for his two Porsches. He was a man of integrity, great taste and lover of life, with many hobbies and interests. He enjoyed traveling, regularly attending Oktoberfest in Germany with friends and loved boating in the Bahamas annually. He spent as much time as he could on golf course, catching live music shows, boating at Raystown Lake and driving fast. But his favorite thing to do was spend time with his family and friends.

Marc had a youthful spirit, a contagious smile and a personality that made him memorable to everyone who knew him. He worked hard, played hard, and never missed an opportunity to enjoy the people, places, and things he loved most.

He will be deeply missed by his beloved dog, Dude, who was rarely far from his side. Marc is also survived by his daughter, Erin Barley, wife of Alaric Abreu; his grandchildren, Alivia Jane and Ari C. Abreu; and his longtime companion, Betsy Grier.
