Patricia Agnes Surina

Patricia A. "Pat" Surina, 71, formally of Shrewsbury, New Jersey and then Strasburg, Pennsylvania, passed away suddenly on Saturday, March 21, 2026. Born in Camden, NJ, she was the daughter of the late John Joseph Surina and D. Elaine (Lynch) Surina. She was the first-born child and grandchild in her family.

Pat was a talented software engineer and tester who worked in the computer industry during its early days. She notably made contributions using some the earliest computers, writing assembly language as the field emerged. Throughout her career, she was employed by RCA, AT&T Bell Laboratories, Lucent Technologies, and Angel Medical Systems.

Pat earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Douglass College and a master's degree in computer science from Rutgers University. Outside of her professional life, Pat enjoyed a wide range of hobbies and creative outlets. She was an accomplished jewelry designer and artist with penchant for intricate works in silver. She loved Middle Eastern dance, had a passion for world travel, and was an avid reader.

Pat is survived by her siblings; Catherine, John (Jay), Stephen and Janice (Salerno).

A celebration of life will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hydes, Maryland at 11 am on May 30, 2026.
