Patricia Anne Scott

Patricia Anne Scott died on July 27th, just shy of her 98th birthday. She was a warm, intelligent woman with strong opinions and convictions. She aged with ongoing curiosity, grace, and good humor.

Pat was born to Doris and Frank Twining in 1928 in Oxford, England and lived with her parents and grandparents. Pat was 11 when WWII began, and she grew up with gas masks, rationing, and the horrors of war. She immigrated to the U.S. in 1951 to marry her hometown boyfriend, Geoff, who had left England a year earlier to move to Chicago. Her voyage across the Atlantic on the RMS Queen Mary lasted four days.

Later Pat and her husband moved to New Orleans and then to Atlanta where they raised two children. She began a career in banking at the Citizens and Southern National Bank in the 1960's, and ultimately Pat became an officer and was a consistent voice in desegregating the bank.

Pat and Geoff had varied interests such as participating in sports car rallies, collecting art, and raising many pets. She maintained close relationships with friends and family back in England, including her childhood best friend, Cicely. She was an avid reader and especially loved learning about the past through historical fiction.

Pat moved to Lancaster in 1991 and helped to raise and shape her four grandchildren, fostering family traditions and sharing her delicious recipes. She volunteered at the Mountville Branch of the Lancaster Public Library, and she was a passionate defender of library funding, and the services libraries provide. Pat eventually became a skilled stamper and made cards for loved ones well into her 90's. She traveled extensively and was keenly aware of current events, both locally and worldwide. She frequently voiced her opinions in letters to the editor of the local newspaper, publishing 16 letters since 2022.

Despite health issues, she remained engaged and vibrant into her late 90's. She is survived by her children, JoAnn and John Scott, her daughter-in-law Lois Kronenwetter-Scott, her grandchildren Julia and Julia's husband Jan-Erik Scholtz, Geoffrey, Charlotte, and Rebecca, and a great-granddaughter, Clara Patrizia Scholtz.

Although Pat will be deeply missed, we are grateful to have had her in our lives for so long. Pat's friends and family will remember her with joy and carry her legacy forward.
