Michelle L. Adkins

Michelle L. Adkins, 77, of Lancaster, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2026. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Szoel and Florence Machtinger. She was also the loving wife to Richard Adkins, celebrating their 54th wedding anniversary this past June.

After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, Michelle spent many years within the sales and accounting department at Home Depot. Prior to that, she took great pride in her role as an educator. When her and Richard moved to Lancaster, they began completely anew, even building their home from scratch. Michelle’s generous nature allowed her to form new connections with the Amish community, providing them with transportation across their farmsteads. She enjoyed collecting dolls, swimming and spending time with her dogs. Her greatest joy was being able to spend time with her granddaughter.

Michelle is survived by her husband Richard; her son, Sean Adkins (fiancée Carissa Tierney); granddaughter Emily Adkins; brothers Larry (Laura) Machtinger and Steven (Karen) Machtinger; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends and relatives are welcomed to Charles F. Snyder III Funeral Home and Crematory, 2421 Willow Street Pike, Willow Street, PA 17584 on Saturday, August 15, 2026 from 9:30 to 11:30AM, with a memorial service to honor Michelle’s life beginning at 11:30AM. The family would like to invite anyone who is able to attend to join them for a time of remembrance at Michelle’s final resting place, Strasburg Mennonite Cemetery, following the memorial service.
